 Miguel Lawrence-recorder

David Perkins-piano

Both trained as classical musicians, Miguel & David are always happy diverting to other genres, however, on this occasion they join forces to offer an evening of famous classical showpieces virtuosically played on recorder (?) and piano. Since his memorable appearance in Britain’s Got Talent 2020, Mexican born Miguel Lawrence has secluded himself studying a master’s degree in music performance at Kingston University, so that this will be his first public appearance in years, accompanied by talented composer and pianist David Perkins. Musically traveling from the deepest melancholy of ‘Vocalise' to the joyous excitement of ‘Toreador’s March’, ‘Moto Perpetuo's' pact with the devil is transferred to the recorder’s nightmarish trills through to the unexpected Spanish tapping of ‘Zapateado’ and the vocally sublime ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’, within a wider musical journey. Although the programme is not entirely easy listening, it is an opportunity to listen to sixty minutes of fresh sparkling versions of all time classical masterpieces by Debussy, Rossini, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Donizetti, Rimsky-Korsakov, Puccini, Paganini. Rachmaninoff, Sarasate, Bach, Handel and Bizet.
